Frequently Asked Questions

Thank you for your interest in the Real Karate Kids Project. If your question is not answered on this page, please contact us.

Can I assist my child with their project?

Your role in your child’s project should be more of a coaching role than an assistant role. Obviously, they need to be driven around and physically assisted with some aspects, but they should do all of the work that doesn’t require that specific assistance.

It doesn’t benefit them for you to come up with the idea, tell them exactly how to implement, recruit their team for them, and so on. If it doesn’t absolutely require your assistance, stand back and let them problem solve to find a solution on their own. If you can do that, they’ll get the most benefit from this project.

Our {insert organization here} is doing a project. Can we just participate in that?

No. The goal of the Real Karate Kids project is to have students use their imagination, create their own concept, organize their own team and plan, and execute themselves. When the project is all their own, the results are all their own. And that’s the goal.

I don't think my child is old enough to do this project.

Do an age-appropriate project. Give your children more credit. You’ll be surprised how much they can accomplish if you don’t give up on them and put limits on them before they even get started.

What does this have to do with martial arts training?

Martial arts is a lifestyle. It’s about physical, mental, social, and emotional development. It’s about being a leader and anĀ outstandingĀ person in the community. It’s about life-transformation.

If you signed your kids up for martial arts so you’d have a 2nd babysitter for your children, you’re at the wrong school. Our goal is not to just pass on martial arts techniques to students, but to pass on the entire spirit of martial arts including the importance of character and selflessness.

Can I do a project by myself?

No.
